the history
March 2020 was an unsettling time and many industries were hit hard. Usually, March was a peak time for wedding bookings, but there was so much uncertainty. We wondered what Floral Support’s role would be in the ever-changing wedding industry; bookings were quickly being cancelled or postponed.
Soon we saw that the auction prices for flowers were very low and the flowers were not selling. Our hearts went out to the growers who invested so much time and effort into growing beautiful flowers. We had a desire to help out the farmers by somehow getting their flowers into the hands of people and we were hoping that we didn’t have to close up our shop.
We came up with the idea of offering a ‘bucket of flowers’ to customers so that they could create their own arrangements at home. Arranging the ‘bucket of flowers’ brought creativity, colour and hope to our customers; family members could arrange something beautiful for themselves, for others or for celebratory/memorial moments. Consequently, the ‘bucket of flowers’ blossomed into the Flower Aid Project and brought some light and hope to a dreary time.
The Flower Aid Project has now bloomed into the The Flower Project to bring joy to customers and sustain the livelihood of growers.
